(KUTV) - Scarves and hats popped up all around Liberty park on Saturday, but the big question was: Who put them there?
KUTV 2 News tracked down the person responsible to Sandy. The individual responsible is Suzette Aposhian, and she’s behind the “Scarfs in the Park - SLC, Ut” Facebook group page.
It’s a project that has also taken place in other cities around the country.
Aposhian and her “band of elves” have been knitting – and crocheting – all year. Saturday they brought 375 scarves and 20 hats to Liberty Park and pinned them on fences, hung them in trees – even tied them on bike racks.
Each scarf and hat was labeled with a note explaining that they were free for anyone forced to sleep on the streets during this bitter, winter weather.
Aposhian is taking a break from crocheting over the holidays, but plans to pickup her needle again in the new year.
