(KUTV) Lt. Governor Spencer Cox announced that hopeful candidates can begin to declare their candidacy for Utah's 3rd Congressional District beginning May 19 at 1 p.m.
Cox held a conference Friday to inform the public of what the timeline for the 3rd District will look like after incumbent Rep. Jason Chaffetz announced he would resign from office June 30.
Those looking to run for his seat in Congress will have until May 26 at 5 p.m. to declare their candidacy.
Cox will then issue a preliminary Special Primary Election ballot and deliver it to county clerks. The official ballot will be submitted June 30.
