(KUTV) Real Salt Lake announced on Wednesday that the team has traded defender Aaron Maund to the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for a third round pick in the 2018 MLS Superdraft.

Maund has been with RSL the last five seasons after being acquired from Toronto FC back in 2013. In his five seasons with the Claret and Cobalt, Maund appeared in 64 matches and started in 61 matches.

"Aaron has been a warrior for Real Salt Lake for the last five seasons and we thank him for his service to the club,” RSL General Manager Craig Waibel said. “We are proud of him for the work he put in to develop with RSL and we wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Maund was named RSL's Defender of the Year in 2015, where he played in 21 of RSL's final 22 matches. He played in 13 matches this season with RSL as well.

RSL is back on the road this Saturday as they take on DC United at 5pm MT. The game can be seen live on KMYU with pregame coverage starting at 4:30pm MT.
