SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - With the days blurring together, it might surprise you to learn that June is just around the corner. The good news is that we'll all soon be able to watch "Space Force," but we'll also be waving goodbye to a number of films that are departing Netflix through out the month.

Here are a few that caught my eye.

The King's Speech

You might remember "The King's Speech" as the film that fought with the Motion Picture Association over its "R" rating. It should be remembered for its fantastic performances, intelligent script and any number of other reasons that it was nominated for 12 Oscars (won Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay). The film stars Colin Firth as King George VI, the British royal who overcame his stammer with the help of a speech therapist. Co-stars Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. (Leaving 6/1/20)

Caught somewhere between "The Matrix," "1984" and numerous other sci-fi films, "Equilibrium" wasn't embraced by critics and was ignored by audiences. I happen to really like the movie. Maybe I'd like any film that has the sense to cast Emily Watson, Christian Bell and Sean Bean (guess the fate of his character). (Leaving 6/7/20)

The Stanford Prison Experiment

The Stanford Prison Experiment was a was a social psychology experiment from 1971 that cast a pool of college student volunteers as prisoners and guard. Would those in power abuse it? The experiment lasted only six days before being completely shut down. In 2015 a cinematic adaptation starring Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, and Tye Sheridan premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. While I'd prefer a documentary, the film does a fantastic job of putting the viewer in the middle of the chaos. (Leaving 6/16/20)

Avengers: Infinity War

The end is near as "Avengers: Infinity War" departs Netflix at the end of June. Our heroes will live on, just at a different address. (Leaving 6/24/20)

Will Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" be the first film released in theaters after the pandemic shut everything down? That's the talk on the streets, but in the meantime you can always watch his classic thriller "Inception." Is it an orchestrated dream or reality? (Leaving 6/30/20)

Minority Report

This week saw the release of Tom Cruise's "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder," and "War of the Worlds," so, why not continue the marathon with "Minority Report?" In this loose adaptation of the Philip K. Dick's story, Cruise stars as the chief of a police department division that arrests potential criminals before they can commit their crimes based on information given to them by a group of psychics. It's directed by Steven Spielberg. Maybe you've heard of him? (Leaving 6/30/20)
