Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill into law Tuesday that will require the state to track all ballots that are mailed or deposited in ballot drop boxes.

House Bill 70, sponsored by Rep. Dan Johnson and Sen. Scott Sandall, allows voters to get text message or email notifications regarding the status of their trackable ballot.

The lieutenant governor's office, that oversees elections in Utah, will set up the system and maintain a website to confirm the status of each ballot.
