As the investigation into a deadly shooting on Sunday night in West Valley City continues, police have identified the slain victim.

17-year-old Edwin B. Reyes was killed at Peachwood Park near 3525 W. 3965 South just after 7 p.m., police say.

Reyes is related to an employee of West Valley's police department, according to a department tweet on Monday evening. Citing that conflict of interest, police said they would turn over the homicide investigation to West Jordan police.

The investigation is ongoing with West Jordan police, with no new information to report Monday, aside from Reyes's age and identity.

The shooter remains unidentified.
