Anyone can get tested for the coronavirus Saturday at an event in Ogden.
“We’re looking to provide testing for all those individuals who would like to be tested and that’s regardless of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms,” said Emily Shake with Intermountain Healthcare’s laboratory team.
Intermountain Healthcare is sending its mobile testing unit to Weber County. It will be open at Odyssey Elementary School in Ogden from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
No registration required. The tests rely on saliva for people who are at least 6 years old.
“No eating, no drinking, including water, no smoking, no vaping, no mints, gum, just nothing by mouth 30 minutes prior,” Shake said.
Utah’s surge rages on, with Jenny Johnson of the Utah Department of Health calling the numbers “discouraging.”
“We know that when we see numbers like this continue day after day, week after week, that in a few weeks time, those are going to turn into hospitalizations and a few weeks after that, there could be people who are losing their loved ones,” Johnson said.
