A 45-year-old woman died at a homeless encampment in the yard of a local resident Sunday, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The fire department was called to the scene near 777 W. 500 North just after 6:10 a.m. for a medical issue. When they arrived to treat a man, they also found the 45-year-old woman deceased. Her identity has not been released.
Police said there were no signs of violence and her cause of death will not be known until the medical examiner completes their investigation.
CNN reported Saturday that the homeless encampment sits in Darin Mann's yard. The local activist opened his impromptu tent area in January and some 15 people live there after other camps in the area got shut down.
