(KUTV) -- The athletic directors of The University of Utah and Brigham Young University are teaming up, asking fans to treat each other with respect as the two teams gear up for their rivalry game this Saturday.

"These are two great universities. Families and fans on both sides deserve a positive experience within and around Rice-Eccles Stadium. There is incredible tradition, passion and excitement surrounding the Utah-BYU rivalry, so let's make it fun for all as we cheer on our respective teams."

The BYU-Utah rivalry is one of the oldest in the country and has been dubbed "The Holy War" by many.

The joint message, released by Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan and BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe urges fans to "keep the battle on the field where it belongs."

"Please enjoy pre-game activities responsibly and be nice to your 'neighbors' in the stadium. Remember safety is in everyone's best interest and is our top priority," the statement said.

The BYU Cougars and Utah Utes face-off Saturday, November 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

The game will be broadcast on FS1.
