The latest development in the coronavirus pandemic: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has ordered the closure of all its temples.
Temples are to close by the end of the day on Wednesday, church spokesperson Irene Caso said in an email.
Latter-day Saint Church leaders composed a letter to members around the world explaining their decision. You can read it here.
Previously, the church announced temple ceremonies by proxy would be suspended, and others would be conducted by appointment only.
The church also will conduct its semi-annual general conference digitally, with limited in-person attendance. Members from around the world were asked not to travel to Utah to attend the conference.
