A fire at a 50-year-old business was quickly put out overnight.

The fire was reported at approximately 3 a.m. near 600 N. 400 W., according to Captain Aaron Allen with the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

The old building, which houses Salt Lake Pattern Inc., has lots of wood. Allen says the blaze sparked in the attic.

A half dozen crew members were able to extinguish the flames within a few minutes.

Allen says the crews essentially saved the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Employees were inside the building working until approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday, hours before the fire was reported.
