An Italian racing team had a majority of its equipment stolen from them during Bonneville Speed Week last weekend.

According to a Facebook post published by John Lemoine of Customikes and a friend of the Italian team on Aug. 17, the team's race bike and equipment was stolen from the Bonneville Salt Flats during the international land racing event.

The post originally stated that the shipping container, which stored the team's bike, tools, spare parts, equipment and computers, was reported stolen between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Aug. 16. The post was later updated to state that everything - except for the bike, which was being washed out at the time - was stolen and that the empty container was found in a nearby dumpster.

“I was so heartbroken to hear that international racers had this happen to them,” Louise Noeth, a land-speed racer and Save the Salt torch-bearer, told Hot Rod Network. “It is really poor on so many levels.”

Lemoine also shared a video of them recovering the container from the dumpster.
