The man who was shot and killed in Carbon County during an officer-involved shooting Tuesday has been identified as 26-year-old Bobby Ray Duckworth.

The shooting occurred at approximately 7 p.m. at 900 East Railroad Ave. in Wellington after an officer responded to a call about a suicidal subject.

After an altercation ensued, the officer used deadly force, according to police. The altercation is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting.

Due to city policy, the officer involved was placed on administrative leave.

A multi-agency team led by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the incident. Price City police, the Emery County Sheriff’s Office and the Carbon County Attorney’s Office are part of the team.

Body camera footage of the incident will be reviewed Wednesday by law enforcement and the scene is currently being processed. Police say the body camera footage clearly shows what happened.

The Carbon County Sheriff's Office says shootings like this aren't common in the area. The last officer-involved shooting occurred more than 20 years ago.

Authorities confirmed Duckworth has a criminal history, and an incident that occurred this past summer involving Duckworth was pending in court prior to his death.

The investigation is active and ongoing. More details will be released at a later time.
