Reports of shots fired in West Jordan, police responding

(KUTV) UPDATE: (April 17, 2:10 p.m.) — No shell casings have been located in the reports of shots fired, according to West Jordan Police.

No reports of property damage. Some witnesses reported they were confident they heard gunshots and others said it was a vehicle backfiring. Officers have cleared from the area.

Multiple reports of gunshots fired in West Jordan were called into authorities on Wednesday morning at approximately 11 a.m., police confirmed to 2News.

Officers are responding to the scene near 7000 South 4800 West.

After the reports came in, Jim Bridger Elementary School, Magna Elementary and Cyprus High School initiated shelter-in-place protocol.

The protocols were lifted at 12:30 p.m.

Granite School District says there is no direct threat to the school, and that the order is precautionary to ensure the safety of students and staff.
