(KUTV) -- An inmate at the Davis County Jail was flown to the hospital after he hurt himself by falling on the concrete floor, a press release stated.
Initial reports claimed he was suicidal and had been transported to a hospital for an evaluation.
The hospital later cleared and transported him to the Davis County Jail. He was booked for an outstanding warrant at approximately 2 a.m., a press release stated.
The new inmate was placed into an observation cell so staff could watch him.
A corrections deputy was watching the inmate when he stepped up on a bench and fell backward from a stand-up position onto the concrete floor.
Officers and medical staff rushed to help the inmate, who regained consciousness at the scene. He sustained head injuries.
The inmate was flown to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray at approximately 3:38 a.m. Correctional officers accompanied the man to the hospital, as he is still in the jail's custody.
