Junior high students displaced by the Magna earthquake move into their new space on Monday.
The West Lake STEM Jr. High is in West Valley City in the Granite School District. Part of the ceiling collapsed as a result of the earthquake in March, and the building was determined to be structurally unsound, according to principal Tyler Howe.
No decision has been made on whether to repair or rebuild it.
In the meantime, teachers have been setting up shop in Taylorsville at Westbrook Elementary. It was one of two schools already scheduled to be closed.
Students and teachers will be there at least a couple of years, Howe said.
About 600 students are expected to want in-person classes, which begin on Monday.
