Tukka Gonne, 21, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday in connection to the stabbing death of a Maverik clerk, police say.

Just after 3:30 a.m., Salt Lake City police responded to a Maverik gas station near 1270 S. Main Street.

An altercation had ensued between a group of men. The store clerk, Joey Allen, was stabbed and killed; another man was critically injured.

Friends of Allen told 2News that working at the gas station was a new job for him.

Two suspects were taken into custody just after the stabbing.

Police said during a press conference on Wednesday morning that they are searching for two other suspects.

Maverik released a statement regarding the fatal stabbing:

It is with great sadness that Maverik had a valued member of our team killed last night at our store. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Maverik Human Resources is providing assistance to teammates who may be feeling overwhelmed, and grief counselors are available for additional help through our employee assistance program (EAP).
