A Kaysville man is behind bars after allegedly stealing $17,000 worth of tires from a St. George business back in April, according to a court affidavit.

Police said Jeremy Jay Galbraith, 37, is accused of stealing the tires from Southern Tire Mart on Riverside Drive after cutting open the retailer's gate.

Captured video surveillance of the incident showed a box truck lined up at the gate before two individuals carried out the theft.

The arresting documents stated that it took approximately 40 minutes to load the stolen tires onto the truck alongside a set of personal rims valued at approximately $2,500.

Later in the day, troopers with Utah Highway Patrol made a traffic stop on I-15 on a Budget rental truck. A search was conducted on the truck and the stolen tires were found.

The driver of the truck was Galbraith.

Galbraith was booked into jail on several potential charges including second-degree felony theft.

Individuals charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
