A 32-year-old man threw a 2-year-old into the Liberty Park pond on Friday in Salt Lake City. according to arresting documents.
Jeremy Olivia was arrested on charges of child abuse, assault, and failing to stop at the command of law enforcement. Olivia tried to punch the man and missed so he threw him into the pond, one police officer wrote about the incident.
Afterward, the suspect picked up the victim's niece and threw her into the water. The toddler was completely submerged underwater for a short period of time. The suspect took off and headed westbound out of the park to 1300 S. 200 East where police caught up with him.
He was booked into Salt Lake County Jail.
