Man killed after suspected DUI driver runs red light in Salt Lake City

A man died after a suspected DUI driver crashed into his car in Salt Lake City just after midnight on Thursday.

Salt Lake City police say the man was traveling north on State Street, stopped at a red light at North Temple and proceeded through the intersection when the light turned green.

At the same time, a woman driving a Nissan was speeding eastbound on North Temple, drove through the red light and nearly T-boned the Civic.

The male driver died at the scene.

Police say the woman had been drinking and was taken to the hospital. The severity of her injuries are unknown.

The man's identity has not been released.
