The former head coach of Real Salt Lake is speaking out after he was fired.
Mike Petke posted a message on Twitter, wishing the team the best and thanking fans for their support.
Petke said he hoped to continue to coach RSL and that he "always respected the rights of all individuals and always will."
"This is a tremendous group of athletes and it has been my honor and privilege to work with them. Knowing them as I do, I expect nothing but the best."
Petke was suspended in July after displaying disruptive behavior and using abusive language toward referees during a post-game press conference.
