As COVID-19 news spread like a virus in 2020... the travel industry was one of many to take a huge hit.

To help get Americans back in the mood for traveling, Airbnb has released two lists; the most-wishlisted booking in each state, and the most-booked online experiences in each state.

For Utah, a unique Park City treehouse takes the top spot for most-wishlisted place in the Beehive State, while Utah's most-booked online experience is a chocolate-making class from an award-winning factory in Jamaica.

Airbnb also says it's identified a "new trend" of "wishlist wanderlust," which shows Americans are regularly daydreaming about traveling, and feeling optimistic as a result.

A recent Airbnb survey revealed that looking back on past trips, as well as looking for new bucket list items to cross off, helps to trigger positive emotions in people including folks "feeling happy, uplifted, and hopeful." The survey also revealed:

  • More than a third (36%) of Americans find themselves daydreaming about traveling daily or more
  • Over one quarter (28%) of adults working remotely report that planning a trip for some time in the future makes them feel hopeful
  • More than two thirds (69%) of adults say that daydreaming about traveling brings about positive emotions
