Salt Lake City police have asked residents in the Sugar House area to stay indoors as they work to contact a potentially armed suspect following a domestic violence assault.

Officials said they received a report of domestic violence at around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Police responded to the scene near Hudson Avenue and Crandall Avenue.

A reverse 9-1-1 alert for neighbors living within a 1/2 mile radius of this incident was issued, authorities stated in a social post.

The victim, who was staying with the suspect, told police they were assaulted and threatened.

Police stated the victim’s relationship to the suspect is unknown.

Officials said the suspect is still inside the residence and is likely armed or has firearms.

They added that the victim is safe with minor injuries and receiving resources.

SWAT teams, a crisis negotiator and a social worker were on the scene.
