A hiker is safe after sleeping on a Utah County mountain and getting lost, officials said.

Utah County Sherriff’s Office Search and Rescue teams said they responded to help a 51-year-old Salt Lake City man just before 9 a.m. Monday.

They said the man had spent the night near Jacob’s Ladder above Alpine and Draper.

Officials added the hiker had summited Lone Peak Sunday and lost his way in heavy brush.

However, they said the man was well-equipped for his excursion.

“He was prepared! Other than Scrub Oak scratches he is uninjured,” officials stated in a tweet.
