A 51-year-old man was taken into custody after a woman was assaulted at Willard Bay on Monday, the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office reported.
The woman called dispatchers from the northwest side of Willard Bay at noon to report the alleged assault.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found the 59-year-old woman had what appeared to be blunt force injuries. She told them she had been choked, according to the sheriff's office.
Based on information from the victim, authorities were able to locate the unoccupied suspect vehicle a short distance away. The suspect was found nearby, in an open area, unresponsive.
Responders evaluated the man, administered life-saving procedures and revived him.
He was later identified as 51-year-old Douglas John Hulse, of Willard, and was taken into custody for aggravated assault.
Hulse and the woman were transported to different area hospitals for treatment and evaluations. Once he is released from the hospital, Hulse will be booked into the Box Elder County Jail, according to the sheriff's office.
The relationship between Hulse and the victim is unknown.
The investigation is ongoing and no other details were released at this time.
