A shooting at the Solara Apartments has put one man in the hospital.
According to police, the shooting took place Saturday and resulted from the culmination of an argument that took place in the victim's apartment.
Salt Lake City Police reported there are three suspects involved in the incident - 2 men and one woman - who've all fled the scene. Though the suspects are still outstanding, they are not deemed to be a danger to the public as the shooting was not a random act of violence.
SLCPD Lt. Tim Stumm told 2News, "They've more likely have fled the area. And I think it was just the argument that caused it. So I don't think the individuals are actually out looking to cause any more harm, hopefully."
But some residents at the Solara Apartment complex say they can't let their guard down. Break-ins, vandalism, violent crimes, and domestic violence occurs regularly, according to a resident who wanted to remain anonymous.
Last year, a young man was shot who resided at the Solara Apartments. It is not known if the suspect was located in that case but the victim succumbed to his injuries.
A call for security cameras from residents is one safety tool they hope the complex will implement to deter further crime.
Number one, make the job for the police a little bit easier, by putting cameras or security here. If they have cameras at each entrance of the buildings, the police would be able to catch things like this. And you wouldn't have criminals running around on the streets.
