UPDATE: (Dec. 10, 2019) -- Efrain Castro, the shooting victim in a "Friendsgiving" dispute, has died, said South Jordan Police Lt. Matt Pennington.
Castro, 23, was the main victim of the violent attack. Two other victims were treated and released from the hospital, Pennington said.
SJPD attended the autopsy of shooter Joshua Perez-Garcia that showed no obvious cause of death. He had some injuries that were non-life-threatening so the cause of death is still unknown. The final medical examiner report may take up to 6 weeks before a cause of death is declared, Pennington said.
The suspect wanted for shooting three people at a "Friendsgiving" party in South Jordan Thursday was found dead on a construction site Monday morning, according to police.
Lt. Matt Pennington with the South Jordan Police Department confirmed to 2News the suspect was found dead, and they are investigating it as a homicide.
South Jordan police identified the suspect as Joshua Perez-Garcia. The said he was found dead in his vehicle in the area of 6200 W. 11000 South.
Perez-Garcia's death is considered suspicious and police stated their investigation will be ongoing.
The shooting happened early Thursday morning in the area of 4600 West South Jordan Parkway.
The suspect fled after shooting three acquaintances at a "Friendsgiving" party around 2:30 a.m.
Pennington said the suspect was arguing with one of the victims and then pulled out a gun and started firing.
It’s a bunch of friends, family, social get-together, the main victim who was targeted was shot multiple times.
