University of Utah Campus Security officers found a large tortoise on the run near one of the school's facilities.

According to a tweet by the University of Utah Police, the tortoise was spotted and caught near the Orthopaedic Center on Oct. 3.

After connecting with the Utah Reptile Rescue, officers said they were able to find the "Frankie's" owners.

They were able to reunite Frankie with his caretakers at the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home.

2News looked into the estimated distance Frankie may have traveled.

The map below shows one possible walking route:

The distance between the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home and the Orthopaedic Center is approximately 0.5 miles.

According to Google Maps, on average, it takes a human approximately nine to 11 minutes to make the walk if using appropriate sidewalks, exits and entrances.

All of that being said, it is unknown if Frankie stayed on the appropriate paths.

One of the Veterans Home parking lots provides almost a direct path to the Orthopaedic Center across Foothill Drive.
