While scientists have documented cases of tiny flies infesting honeybees, causing the bees to lurch and stagger around like zombies before they die, researchers donÂ?t know the scope of the problem. Now they are getting help in tracking the honeybee-killing parasite from ZomBee Watch, created in 2012 by John Hafernik, a biology professor at San Francisco State University. Honey production is looking up in Utah.

The Honey Production report for 2020 shows the state's bees made about 952,000 pounds of honey.

That's a nearly 50% increase from the year before.

Utah honey prices also jumped about 10 cents in 2020.

Utah is fourth in honey production behind Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
