(KUTV) -- A Utah teacher accused of murdering her ex-husband's girlfriend has been formally charged with aggravated murder, and six other crimes, according to court documents.
32-year-old Chelsea Watrous Cook, a former teacher at Skyridge High School in Lehi, is currently being held without bail in the Salt Lake County Jail.
She's been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated murder, a first degree felony as well as aggravated burglary (1st degree felony), felony discharge of a firearm with serious bodily injury (1st degree felony), felony discharge of a firearm with injury (2nd degree felony), felony discharge of a firearm (3rd degree felony) and two counts of violent offense committed in presence of a child (both Class B misdemeanors).
The shooting happened Sunday night November 25 around 6:58 p.m. at the Station at Midvale apartments at 7960 S. Center Square in Midvale.
According to charging documents, Chelsea Cook entered her ex-husband Travis Cook's apartment while he was in the parking lot, where she initially said she would meet him.
She was told to leave multiple times, but refused.
Travis Cook says she then locked herself in the bathroom for about 15 seconds before coming back out to grab her coat before pulling out a handgun and firing three to five shots at Williams, according to police.
"Mr. Cook was behind [Chelsea] COOK when he heard multiple gunshots and saw [Chelsea] COOK pointing a gun at Ms. Williams, the charging documents state. "Mr. Cook grabbed the gun from [Chelsea] COOK and [Chelsea] COOK sat down with the two children, who were present in the living room during the shooting. While Mr. Cook was back on the phone with the 911 operator, [Chelsea] COOK got up and walked towards her coat. Unsure if [Chelsea] COOK had another gun hidden in her coat, Mr. Cook pinned [Chelsea] COOK up against the wall until officers arrived. While waiting for police, Mr. Cook [told his children] to go to their bedroom and lock their door," the charging documents state.
The officer who responded obtained surveillance video which police say shows Chelsea Cook entering the hallway where Travis Cook's apartment is located.
She is seen standing in the hallway where she appeared to be texting on her phone.
"Shortly thereafter, Mr. Cook exits his apartment and once he is out of sight [Chelsea] COOK enters the apartment without knocking," the charging documents state.
