(KUTV) — Early Wednesday morning all eastbound lanes along 3300 South in West Valley City were closed to traffic following a fatal accident.
Police told 2News the auto-pedestrian crash happened near 1450 West and 3300 South around 1:45 a.m.
Dispatchers said a male driver called after hitting a woman.
Police are investigating why the woman was in the road. There is no crosswalk in the area.
When police arrived, the woman had already died, according to Lt. Steven Kratz.
The driver stopped and is cooperating with police, officials said.
Police have not identified the woman, however they believe she is an adult between 30-40 years old.
Eastbound traffic along 3300 South was being diverted back on to Redwood Road during the on scene investigation.
No charges will be filed against the driver, according to police.
