UPDATE: (Sunday, Jan. 26 at 4:30 p.m.) – Box Elder Couty Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Christina Bailey, age 51, of Logan. Investigators still must determine if the incident is considered a drowning, or if medical complications played a role in the incident.
(ORIGINAL STORY) – A 51-year-old woman was pulled from the water at Crystal Hot Springs at around 3 p.m. on Saturday in Box Elder County.
Box Elder County Sheriff's Office confirmed the woman died at the hospital after life-saving measures were made. Officials believe the woman likely drowned in the water.
The victim is from Cache Valley and was visiting the springs with a friend. While swimming in the large pool, a group of teenagers noticed the woman was struggling and called for medical help. She was removed from the pool and CPR was performed.
She was taken to Bear River Valley Hosptial via medical helicopter, officials said. She was pronounced dead while at the hospital. "It is unknown exactly what caused her to have the problem in the pool," Chief Deputy Dale Ward said. There will be an investigation to determine the official cause of death and if the victim had complications that could have contributed to the incident.
Multiple law and medical teams responded to the incident including Box Elder Sheriff's Deputies, Tremont Fire, Honeyville First Responders.
The identity of the woman was not released at this time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
