A wrong-way driver was arrested in Salt Lake County Sunday night for allegedly driving under the influence.
The Utah Department of Public Safety reports the wrong-way driver was traveling on Interstate 80 near milepost 104 at approximately 10:49 p.m. The caller told the Utah Highway Patrol's dispatch that the four-door Sedan was driving eastbound in westbound lanes.
A trooper slowed down traffic as he traveled toward the driver, who was traveling at slower speeds and didn't respond to the trooper's emergency lights.
In order to stop the wrong-way driver, the trooper moved to the right shoulder and then turned into the rear of the vehicle, according to DPS.
Even though the crash was minor, the trooper's car was disabled.
The driver was arrested for a DUI after being cleared by medical personnel.
The trooper was not injured in the crash.
