A man who was reported missing on Christmas Day was found to have crashed his truck on State Route 208.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, Michael Charles Lee, 55, of Duchesne County was reported missing at approximately 10:00 A.M. He was last seen Wednesday evening in Hanna before crashing his red 1999 Toyota Tacoma truck on SR-208 mile marker 8.

The vehicle went off the highway approximately 50-feet westward and down a 60-foot ravine embankment. Lee suffered from incapacitating injuries from the crash and stayed in the vehicle until 2:00 p.m. on Christmas when he heard the sound of a resident shooting at targets. Lee then began to shoot his own rifle and yelled for help to get the attention of the resident, who eventually discovered the vehicle and called dispatch.

Fire, emergency medical services, and law enforcement personnel used safety ropes to scale down the ravine to get to Lee, according to DPS. He was life-flighted to the University of Utah for medical treatment, but his condition is unknown.

The cause of the crash is unknown and the incident is currently under investigation.
