NAPLES, Fla. (KUTV) — Yuki the wolfdog was dropped off at a kill shelter by his owners because he was getting too big.

But Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples, Florida stepped in and rescued the 12-year-old terminally-ill wolf.

The sanctuary says "Yuki is a “ham” and loves to be the center of attention."

A DNA test showed Yuki is 87.5% Gray Wolf; 8.6% Siberian Husky; and 3.9% German Shepherd.

Shy Wolf Sanctuary posted an update on Yuki's condition, saying because he's terminally-ill, he's not up for adoption:

“Sorry everyone, but I am not available for adoption. I am 12 years old and terminally ill so I will be staying at Shy Wolf with my pack friend Bella in our enclosure. However, you can sponsor me!”

Yuki will live out the rest of his days at Shy Wolf Sanctuary.
