(UPDATE 4/5/21 - 2:25 p.m.) — Ogden police have identified the victim in Saturday's deadly shooting in the parking lot of an Ogden, Utah Smith's grocery store.

The woman killed by her ex-boyfriend was 41-year-old Mindee Lavell Elmore. In a news release, Ogden police stated:

This incident is a shock for our community and specifically the family members that it has impacted. (UPDATE 8:27 p.m.) — Ogden police say the man who shot himself after a standoff with police is in “critical condition.” Police say he shot his ex-girlfriend, a 41-year-old, in the Smith's parking lot this afternoon at 1485 Harrison Blvd.

At 1:15 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the shooting of a 41-year-old woman, who police say was confronted and shot by her ex-boyfriend, who fled the scene.

Police quickly found the suspect in the front yard of a home near 900 Maple Street, armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

Police say he refused officer's orders to surrender. The Ogden SWAT team was called to the area and neighboring homes were evacuated.

After an hours-long negotiation, police say the suspect shot himself. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are withholding both identities until family is notified.

Police are working to figure out the circumstances that led to the woman's death.

There is no threat to public safety, police said.

(UPDATE: 5:30 p.m.) — Ogden police provided this update via Facebook:

Police are on the scene of an ongoing incident. A suspect is armed and currently in contact with police negotiators in the 900 block of Maple Street. The suspect is contained, and the incident is ongoing. The public is asked to stay away from this area. We will provide updates as information becomes available."

(KUTV) — At least one person is dead after an afternoon shooting in the parking lot of a Smith's grocery store at 1485 Harrison Boulevard, Ogden police said.

There is also an active police incident at 36th Street and Harrison, though police have not yet confirmed the two incidents are related.

Ogden police on Facebook said:

Active police incident. Please avoid the area between 36th St. and 40th St., and 800 E. to 1100 E. **ALERT** Please avoid the area of 36th St. and Harrison. There is an active police incident in the area."

This is an active scene and police have not yet provided more details as the investigation is ongoing.

The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition expressed its condolences to the family of the woman killed in a social media post.
