University of Utah researchers are hoping to raise enough money to do a deeper dive into COVID-19 long haulers.
“We have started to expand our research net to really understand why this is happening to patients and how to make them better through various treatments,” said Nicole Frank, associate director of University of Utah Health’s 3i initiative.
They set a $25,000 fundraising goal, with Tuesday’s contributions being tripled by a donor. About $1,500 had been raised by early Tuesday evening.
“This is the first, really important step, is to hit this $25,000 goal so that we have a full-time research coordinator at the U working with our Utah patients,” Frank said.
Specialists who work on the heart, brain and lungs will be a key part, although Frank said all lingering impacts would be studied.
