(KUTV) - For kids that are serious about running, it’s typically a year-round adventure. They hold themselves accountable with miles and miles put in on the track or the pavement. There’s also adherence to a diet and lots of time in the weight room trying to get stronger. Over at Springville High School, coaches were able to notice Grant Gardner’s natural talents even before he was old enough to be a part of the program. Grant comes from what he calls a “running family,” and his brother was even an All-American at BYU. Grant is a terrific student and teammate and is a leader on both the Red Devil’s Cross Country and Track teams.
In this week’s “Prep of the Week,” Adam Mikulich meets Grant over in Springville on the eve of the State Cross Country Championships! Grant talks about hard work and the ability to fight through pain, as well as trying to remain calm heading into one of the biggest races of his life. Folks, meet another great local athlete right here!
