The Utah Jazz released its training camp roster Tuesday, just 11 days before its first preseason game is scheduled to start.
The roster includes familiar names from last year, brand new names and names that are familiar again.
The Jazz resigned free agent Jordan Clarkson and brought back free agent but long-time Utah favorite Derrick Favors after his sting in New Orleans. Another familiar name, though new to the Jazz is Utah Valley University and BYU guard Jake Toolson. The Jazz signed him last week though details of the contract were not made public.
Jazz rookie draft pick Udoka Azubuike a third center on the roster behind favors and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, Azubuike played college ball at Kansas and is listed at 7 feet, 270 pounds. Other rookies include Elijah Hughes from Syracuse, Trent Forrest from Florida State and Romaro Gill out of Seaton Hall.
Last season's NBA was interrupted when Gobert testing positive for COVID-19, throwing the sports world into chaos as teams and leagues tried to figure out how to play while keeping fans, players, coaches and staff safe. The Jazz made the playoffs in the NBA-created coronavirus bubble in Florida. The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA title.
