Utah colleges are going bowling: 2019 CFP bowl game matchups

Some of Utah's college football teams are going bowling this season.

2News has curated a list of which of the Beehive State's colleges and universities are going to compete in college bowls games as they were announced by the College Football Playoff committee on Sunday afternoon:

University of Utah Utes

The U of U will face the Texas Longhorns in the 2019 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

The Big-12's Longhorns ended their season 7-5 while the PAC-12's Utes ended their season 11-2, with a tough loss to the Oregon Ducks in their conference championship game on Friday.

According to the Alamo Bowl's Twitter page, the PAC-12 has only won the 2015 and 2018 games in the CFP era, while the Big-12 won both the January and December 2016 games, along with the game in 2017.

The game is set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time on New Year's Eve.

Brigham Young University Cougars

BYU announced on Twitter that they'll face off against the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Warriors in the 2019 SoFi Hawai'i Bowl.

The Cougars finished their season 7-5 while the Rainbow Warriors topped the Mountain West Conference with a 9-5 season while losing to Boise State University in their conference's championship.

The game is set for 3 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian Time on Christmas Eve.

Utah State University Aggies

USU is set to play the Kent State University Golden Flashes in the 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl.

The Aggies finished their season 7-5 while the Golden Flashes finished their season 6-6 in the Mid-American Conference.

Their game is set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time on Dec. 20.
